Who Wants Over 100 Pieces of Designer Paper????

Not Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL Ok well, I do *want* it but I can't have it....because I have about 1,500 pieces of paper of my own!!

I am trying to be in the spirit of using what I have instead of collecting so much, KWIM??

I figured I would start in the hardest place for me and that is the Designer Paper department....I am quite the collector of pretty paper. I just love it, it's so, well, pretty!

So, what I did was went through the 6 - 12x12 paper holders and the other 3 - 9x12 holders and took out as much paper as I could possibly bare to part with and decided to give it to someone else! Cool It was soooo hard to go through and take out these pretty pieces of paper to give away. BUT I know they will all go to a crafter that will love them as much as me (maybe not, it's a little sick) and will use them and create with them!

Holy Schmackers, right???

Here we have some DP from Fall Flowers, Winter Brights, Apple Cider....

Office Accoutrement, Spring Showers, Me & My Big Ideas...

A lot of Outlaw DP in the plastic still....Le Jardin...

And a WHOLE bunch more Spaz

What I have here is at least 55 whole 12x12 sheets of Paper, then there are at least 25 half-sheets, then over 60 pieces that are all big enough to make cards with! Some are long 12 inch strips and some are cut to standard card size already but they are all big enough to use and not tiny scraps!!!!

This treasure trove of paper is going to go to a random winner chosen on Saturday, January 5, 2008!!

Just leave a comment on whether you are a user or a collector or both, of crafting supplies!! I need some tips and advice on how to use some of this paper and some of these stamps that I have sitting around here. I am quite good at shopping for supplies, not so good at using the supplies so HELP ME!!!

Happy New Year

  1. OOOOOHlookie me, I'm first to admit my problem! "Hello, my name is Denise and I am a paper hoarder!" Actually I just purged a huge stack of non-SU stuff too! I donated it to the nursing home my Mom works at, the activities coordinator is doing a card making class for them! So, now I NEED more paper! LOL

  2. Wishing you a blessed New Years!!!

I am probably 95% collector and 5% user. lol! I love collecting paper and ribbon the most!

  3. WOWZA ... that's a lot of paper! I'm a collector of stamping items myself but I have nowhere near the paper you do!

    Happy 2008!

  4. Wow!!! That's alot of patterned paper!!! I use it some, but must admit that I am more of a hoarder at this point - LOL!

  5. OMG!!! This is the best Blog Candy EVAH!!!I have to admit I collect more than I use, mostly because I have a lousy storage system for my DP. It's all heaped in one large drawer, so I don't even know what's at the bottom. I have a separate drawer for my Basic Grey, though, which I use all the time! :-) I hope 2008 will be the best year for you yet!

  6. Wow! What a haul!!! I hope it goes to someone who will use it - so please don't pick me as I have exactly the same problem!

  7. Wow! What fun! I have a ton of designer paper too so you'd think I'm a hoarder but really...I'm finding it is absolutely fantastic for card making and use it almost on every card now. So...why do I have so much paper? 'Cuz it is just so darn hard to have the "perfect" paper at home for a card so you have to go purchase one...ya know what I mean?!

Thank you for a fun blog and Happy 2008!

  11. I have quite a collection of paper, too, but I try to use it. I go through every few months and purge, but some have been there probably a few years. I love the design, but haven't found a use for it yet. I have been using more paper for altered items and cards lately, too.

  12. This may sound weird but I am a collector for nine months out of the year and then three months I actually get busy stamping! I work full time and go to night school so I do most of my stamping in the summer months. Not to say that I don't stamp other times, I do, just not as often. Almost all of my projects use background paper so I know the feeling of feeling like your hoarding it. It is a wonderful accessory! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to reap the rewards of your paper!

  13. Holy smokes...look at all that yummy paper!!! I'm a user. I do buy, but I use alot of what I buy. I do have a problem with my Primas, though...I always forget to put them on my projects!

  14. Wow that's alot of great paper! I'm a shopper and collector too of stuff I see on sale and "have to have" it. I'll stalk your blog on how to put my supplies to use :) Happy New Year! Kim

Thank you for your very generous offer!

  16. I'm a user of course that is when I'm in the store thinking I have to have it but by time I get home I turn to a collector, LOL. I have a place for everything and everything in it's place, sometimes I just have to many everythings....I do use lots of paper though so I'd love more, between paper and glue I keep those companies in business. Happy 2008. Great blog!

  17. So much paper, so little time is what my license plate cover says! It explains me perfectly!
One thing that helps me use up my paper is to make a card every time I make a page. I use the left over paper, stickers & embellishments to make my card. Everything already matches. I make as many cards as I can with the left overs.
I also cut a lot of my scraps into 12x6, 6x6 or 4 1/2 x 4 1/2. I put those in separate drawers for my Cricut, Cuttlebug & Zyron. The smaller pieces also go in with the Cuttlebug scraps. I've found I used the scraps faster if I cut them into straight edge pieces, instead of saving all those little pieces I've cut a die cut out of those(they always frustrate me because there is no way to neatly store those).
I forgot, I also cut some of the pieces into 4 x 5 1/4, since that is the perfect size for most of the cards I make.
I hope that helps with using up your scraps.
I'm mostly a collector, I guess. I plan on changing that this month. No more saving those beautiful papers because I might want them later!

  18. OMG, that is a LOT of paper! Pick me, Pick me =).

I am part user, and part collector. I tend to horde hodgepodge and ribbon, but DSP I use more.

Paper I try to keep in sight if I need to use it, so maybe I'll get an idea. As for stamps I just spend too much time on SCS in the gallery getting ideas =).

  19. I'm a user and a collector of craft supplies!! I love all that paper!! I do contests and tutorials every day, which helps me use my supplies quickly. Thanks!

I am a user and a hoarder..lately I have been using a lot more and I am trying to use what i have now!!! It is fun once you make yourself USE it! lol!

    Happy New Year!

  21. I always buy two sheets of the same paper. One to use (which I immediately cut up into 6 x 6 and the other to save for later. I also buy ribbon in bulk, cut off hanks for others and save what I want. But the worst is ink and powder. I have to have every color (always giving some away but still kinda weird-as I use black the most)

    ReplyDelete
  22. The first promise I made to myself for this new year was to use what I have. I have lots of stamps that have not seen ink. But what I don't have is PAPER. I don't hoard cause I don't have much! I would really LOVE to have your paper!! So once I have the paper you can come over and help me put ink to my TAC stamps I got months ago!! Then we can "plan" my next Stampin Up order!LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I love to collect and use DP! I tend to try to make multiple copies of a card so I can work on the stash of my mom and MIL. I love DP but once I have used it a couple times, I grow bored! So making multiples is a good way to use it up!

  24. Wow...I wuld love all those paper...

  25. OMG!! I do, I do! Holy dooodle! I am a paper luver, wink wink, and a paper hoarder. I must confess, since I was a child I love any and all paper!! but especially pretty paper/stationary. But..this fall I started using DP's on cards, inspired by blogs, learning the criss cross card which uses alot, pocket cards, & dp with my 1st primas! I love the look of pretty paper used on cards. I'd even share with stamping friends, :) woooohooo, I'm so excited, will have paper dreams tonight. So sweet of you, thx. :)

  26. Pick ME ME ME! I love all of these. Wow I bet it was hard to give these up. If you pick me it will go to a lovely home and I will use them for cards and altered items. I decided this year that I was going to start using what I have and buy less. Ok that is going to be a big task. I think the only way to do this is not to go shopping or blog surfin....I know that's not go to happen.
    Thanks for a chance.

  28. Omigosh! I love your blog, and I would SO love to win some of your paper. My home was destroyed by fire and I lost all my scrapping supplies, and I do a weekly scrapbook group for seniors....I'm going to cross my fingers, toes and everything else that I get lucky here!

Thank you for being so generous!!

  29. I probably have it in me to be a collector, but I still live with my parents and my mother keeps me under control. Every now and then she aks me if I don't have enough flowers and stamps yet(my 2 main addictions)and mostly she is right and I keep my purse closed.

  30. Hi
first time entering one of these, but the paper is so pretty. Have you tried altering wodden frames, boxes and laminate samples? I it for cards too but really enjoy frames. I will be trying to cover some little mailboxes I got at Target's dollar spot too. Unfortunately I also am a hoarder, glad to see more like me. Happy New Year!

  31. I'm becoming more of a user. I used to just keep all of the stuff that I loved but then thought, what's the point!!! I've even come across stuff in my stash from years ago that I just couldn't bear to use and now it's not even my style.
There will always be something new I'll love just as much!

  32. Yippee!!! I finally found where to do this!!!! Yeppers , I to have way to much in the way of any kind of stamping stuff. Hey, what am I saying - one can never have to much, right? ;-)

  35. Hi Jimmie!
What a brave girl you are! I don't think I could ever give away paper!

I am definitely a collector...it is just so beautiful. And, after reading the other comments, I find that I definitely am not alone :)

But, I have started using it too. My favorite new technique is paper piecing. I never liked the results of my coloring, so paper piecing allows me to create without coloring!

Thank you for offering a chance to win this extremely awesome prize!!!

  37. I love the collecting aspect...I am always sure that some day the paper will be just perfect for the project that I am working on.

The other aspect to collecting is the paper is so beautiful that I know some day I will have a use for it :-)

    ReplyDelete
  38. I should do this with my paper too! I am definitely a collector of pretty papers but am really going to try using more of them up this year.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I would love to win all this paper!! I would have to admit that I am more of a collector than a user, but one resolution that I made in October was to start using all the beautiful paper that I have been collecting. I did use about 4 sheets of Christmas paper that I bought 3 years ago from SU, so I am "trying"!

  40. Wowaza what a stash! I don't have much of DP, and I'm always look out for some more...
This is so good of you to give it..i'm sure whoever gets it will appreciate it a lot..
    I'm a hoarder that's for sure!

  41. Oh my goodness, such treasures. I have found that paper I purchase, I hoard. Paper that I've been given, I am inclined to dig in and make something with right away. I guess its because the paper has already had its "hoarding time" or just because I feel like I am receiving it to be used not to equally hoard. Nevertheless, I am MUCH better with gifted paper.

    ReplyDelete
  42. WOw!!! I'm a collecter and using but I think I collect more than I use. I see a paper and love and just have to have it. It is nice to have extra so when I get in the mood to work I have paper on hand. I would have a ball with all this paper.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ooooh, pick me, pick me! I have a small stash of papers, although I pick up a couple pretty much everytime I go to the LSS. I would say that I usually won't buy a paper unless I love it! I am more of a user than a collector in the paper department -- but don't even get me started on ribbon ;)

  47. I have been a hoarder and a user (mostly hoarder). One of my resolutions this year is to use, use, use!
I would love to be entered in this blog candy offer and I have decided that I will take out what I would REALLY use and then offer the rest and some of mine that isn't being used and offer it up for candy on my blog. Kinda like a pay it forward deal.

  48. Yup, I'm a hoarder. Every time I buy more for the stash I tell myself that I will really use this but then it sits there. 2008 will be different. I'm going to get caught up on my scrapbooking...didn't I say that last year????

  49. I'm a collector too--but I do manage to use some of my paper up!

  59. Hello! I'll take that off your hands! I'm a buyer and collector more than a user but if we have a recession and all the stores close, I'm set for life! Just set a goal for a month----no purchases, or I have to use at least 2 sheets of paper a day for a month. Don't set a year's goal----that's too hard. You'll get there and it's amazing how fast it goes when you start.

  61. I'd Love to win your papers. I'm a big time user when it comes to papers and my own stash is down to about 35 papers non of which go together. I'd even be happy with your leftovers LOL :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. I am a bit of both, but to be honest, more of a collector!! I think you really have to commit yourself to sit down and make one card every couple of days? Do the SCS challenges. This is what I will do. Also, I've been making one card each time I sit down. I think I will make multiples, maybe not exactly the same (boooring), but very similar. That way, I get more use out of each set and can use up scraps or DP. Good luck to us all in 2008!! :)

  63. Ohmygosh! what awesome collection of paper. I can't even imagine. I have just begun to use some designer paper so I don't have a collection. What you have is to die for!

  64. I'm both, but recently realized that I've only used about 1/2 of the stamps I own, so I need to make an effort to try harder to be a user.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm a hoarder ... of every thing. Especially paper ... I can't seem to stop either.

If I win, I promise to take good care of your paper ... maybe even use some of it, LOL!

    TFS your stash!

    ReplyDelete
  66. One can NEVER had too much designer paper, can they??? I live in a town where there are NO scrapbook stores. The only place to buy DP is Michael's and/or Hobby Lobby. Sad, but true!

The best way for me to use up paper that I don't really like much anymore is to line envelopes with it. It doesn't have to match the card *perfectly*.

I probably am about 50%/50% user and hoarder. I make a card almost every day for my blog, but I also love collecting new things.

    Happy New Year!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Remember that awesome Seinfeld episode with Elaine and her "sponges"? Well, I'm like that with my DSP, hodgepodge, and pretties...as I make a card I ask myself, "Is this person hodgepodge-worthy?" or "Is this person DSP-worthy?" Will they appreciate my effort and sacrafice and cherish my artwork? It's so hard to let go if you imagine your beautiful work ending up in the trash!

This has made me a hoarder 75% of the time.

I worry about needing a sheet of DSP for a project, and I just used the last sheet and now it's retired! Oh, the horror!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I am a user! That is why right now I haven't much paper in my stash (not counting my scrap pile) to work with and its frustrating!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I looooooove designer paper!!! Especially when its in the package!!! I try to use a little bit on every other project i usually use a small strip so it goes a long way!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. OOOOOOOOHHHHH!!!! Pretty! Thanks for the chance to win it.

I'm primarily a collector, simply due to lack of time to create. However, this Christmas, I really started using what I have instead of buying more, especially in regard to DP. I just started every card with a sheet of DP and worked around it!

    ReplyDelete
  72. I am a little bit of both. I love to buy it but I don't use nearly as much as I buy. I would hate to not have that perfect piece should I need it.

    Julie

    ReplyDelete
  73. AN easy way to start using it would be to get together with some friends and family and make some cards for the troops. You could do a fairly simple layout with the DP as your background panel and then you could all just stamp an image to attach. I know you are used to making spectacular cards, but simple cards can be pretty too.

That being said....Thanks to you I am now a dp addict. Jimmi sent me some of her scraps a few months ago and now I have a huge stash. Funny how that happens :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. My name is Nancy and I'm a paper hoarder! I have hoarded since I was a preteen! I wasn't crafting then, just collecting! Then my Mom would find my stash and talk about bugs that loved to eat paper, and it would dissapear! So then i would find better hiding spots! Now my husband threatens to make my stash dissapear but i have better control over him than I did my Mom!!

Need to get my tail in gear and do the scrapbooks that are all on my list!!

  77. Luvin' all the smilies! I think I am am more of a collector...I just don't want to cut the pretty paper but lately I have actually started using it. Lets just say a News years resolution! Glad I found you on SCS Blog Thread!

  78. I love designer paper. I do not hoard it. I use it constantly. I am in the middle of making 2 scrapbooks (one for son and one for daughter). I alkso use it in most of my cards I make. I see alot of the papaer I have used in the past in your pictures.. Great blog candy!!

  79. Who isn't a collector of craft supplies? I bought one of those huge paper stacks at M's years ago before I knew that matching the colors to my SU inks would be so hard.
