It's Cold in Hollywood...

But Rod the Bod managed to warm us up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The concert was at Hard Rock Live! Very cool place, not too big, just perfect!
Pure sex appeal!!

We all signed up for the Players Club at the casino and they gave us $25 vouchers to use to gamble with, I used that and won $37.00 more dollars!! Pretty good huh? I spent it on a Rod t-shirt and something for Rachel but that's cool right??

Tomorrow I guess I am going shopping for a sweater! Then out to Hollywood, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, sight seeing!
Can't Wait!!!

Friday Fun Challenge #20, wow!

20?? That's a lot of Friday Fun!!

Today Kath is our Hostess and she challenged us to use 3 different patterns on our cards! Very Kath-like, don't you think? She is so awesome with patterns and papers!

This does have 3, you just cant tell very well...The paper is Father Knows Best from Papertrey Ink and the sun *rays* is acutally a really light yellow circle pattern that wouldn't photograph well.
These stamps are from the new Unity kit Beach Days and Sun Rays.

Check out the Friday Fun girls cards here:
Sara - Expressions of a Creative Mind

This card should make you all think of me....in Miami....warm....with flip flops on :-)
Have a great weekend, be back Monday!!

It's a Sad Day

Don't laugh but I have spent over an hour crying about my tivo being dead...

We have Directv and the reciever had built in tivo, with the little tivo man on the front of it...tivo has been my very favorite part of my life for like 8 years...well, pretty darn close to my favorite thing. Anyway, my bedroom reciever died so Directv sent us 2 new ones (the one in the living room is really old, too so needed to be replaced or so they said). Well these new ones are "DVR"s but not with my little tivo man on it and not with the same features and you dont use it the same way. No "season pass", no "to do list"...I am seriously distraught. I called them and said to send me the old ones and they said they don't make them anymore...?$%!?&$!?$#$
Mike came in my room and saw me crying on the bed holding my old remote control, yes I am serious, and he had an idea, so there may be hope at least for the bedroom. He said since the one in the living room isn't dead, just old, we can put that one in the bedroom and at least i'll have my tivo man in there at night. I don't know, do I just move on with the future or hang onto my tivo man...??? I don't know.
I just can't beleive it. Why change something that is 100% complete perfection??????

Friday Fun Challenge #19

Sherry is our challenge hostess today!

Her challenge is to make a Valentine for a friend, non-romantic.
I got my new Papercrafts magazine yesterday in the mail and found this cool layout by Julie Ebersole. Looks easy enough right? Well, it took me over an hour to make one skinny little card...needless to say cutting at an angle is not my forte...but I got it done...then smudged the white ink...then redid it and smudged the white ink again...then said "too bad!" and took the picture anyway...this is what I get for stepping out of my cozy comfort zone ;)

Stamps: Love Songs by PTI
Cardstock: Kraft, Stampers Select White, Dark Chocolate by PTI and Pretty in Pink by SU!
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink by SU!; Snow White by PTI

Check out the Friday Fun girls cards here:

How To Make a Card Sketch Using MS Word

I was asked to do a tutorial (by Kath) of how I make my sketches for cards (like THIS one) without Photoshop or any Photo software. I use Microsoft Word and it's easy as pie and takes just a few minutes.

I hope this helps someone else out there to make sketches.

First you need to open a blank Word document.

Next you will need to insert a shape to use.
You can do this by using the “Drawing” toolbar.
To add this toolbar to your toolbars, right-click in the toolbar area and choose “Drawing” this will add it to the toolbar area (PIC. 1).
It always adds mine to the bottom…I don’t know why. I don’t know if yours will be at the bottom or top…

Now go to the toolbar and choose a shape for the bottom layer of your sketch. You choose a shape by clicking on it in your Drawing toolbar.
I normally choose a rectangle which you can make into a square or long rectangle by changing its size vertically and horizontally (PIC. 2).

It will say “Create Drawing Here” on your screen in the Word Document (PIC. 3).

Click in that screen and it will put your shape there, now you can drag it to the size you want it to be (PIC. 4).

Then to differentiate each layer you can change the color of that layer by “right-clicking” on it and choosing “Format Autoshape” then select from the drop-down arrow a “Fill Color” to use, then click “ok”. This should change your shape to the color you chose. (PIC. 5)
Repeat the steps above to continue selecting shapes and layering them one on the other until you have a sketch you like. (PIC. 6)
You can move the layers onto each other but clicking on one that is towards the bottom will move it to the top so beware of that when clicking around. I like to just start at the bottom and work my way up only moving top layers to where I need them before.

A Few Helpful Tips:
- To make little spots for brads, eyelets, spot for a sentiment, etc., I use the “Stars and Banners” choice on the shape menu.
- “More Autoshapes” will take you to your Clipart library and all the shapes available there. There is most likely a Christmas tree, music note, shapes you can use for flowers, half-circles and more.

I hope you like my 1st ever (probably last, lol) tutorial and that its helpful to you!

See you tomorrow with more of my VSN creations to share!
